Medium Voltage Capacitor Banks

JRS designs and manufactures a wide array of custom medium voltage capacitor and filter banks. Our designs include 5,15, 25 and 38 KV. JRS has manufactured conventional and detuned capacitor banks including skid mounted units for underground mining applications.

All units are manufactured within our 11 gauge fully welded cubicles and can include integral breakers or fused switches and contactors. Automatic switched units can be designed such that up to 5 stages can be incorporated in a single compact bank. Each stage can be detuned with its own iron core custom made reactor. For customers with existing medium voltage switchgear, we manufacture custom bus extensions to match the existing switchgear.

Our cubicle construction ranges from indoor Nema1 to outdoor Nema 3R. Our filter banks are custom engineered for each application to mitigate excessive harmonics generated from sources such as large AC/DC drives. Typically 5th and 7th harmonics are targeted harmonic for reduction to meet prescribed IEEE levels within a system.

In most instances, JRS can design and build your system to meet Arc-Resistant standards. These designs will be based on our Patented Arc-Resistant construction and has been tested to EEMAC G14-1 standards.

JRS Engineering staff would be capable of helping in the design of a turnkey solution or build to your own engineered design.
